This was the first time it was used in anger. There do not appear to be leaks but the fluid level was low. I topped it off and spent a good hour bleeding the system. No change. Don't install hydro assist if you don't need it, particularly if you already have instability. I run Redneck Ram's kit on my '09 and it's great but my JK is fairly stable. Figure out why you have directional stability issues first.
The Redneck ram setup is nice but you can DIY for less than $150.00 ... I would also go 1.5" bore 8" stroke from surplus center like the NAXJA thread... If anything Hyd. assist will help take the stresses off the factory box and 3 mounting holes... Why hydraulic assist? What size tires are you running?1317 posts · Joined 2003. #3 · Aug 29, 2006. 1100 seems high for hydro assist, it cost me about 170$ to do mine, disassembled and tapped the stock box myself and bought a 1.5"x8" ram from surpluscenter for 87$ + hoses, etc... Check my stretch thread link in sig page 3 for how I did mine. Like.HYDRO ASSIST CYLINDER 8" STROKE RAM WITH A 3/4" 4340 HARDENED CHROMOLY SHAFT AND TION SEATS. HOSES AND -6AN FITTINGS. TIE ROD CLAMP FOR MOUNTING. 5/8" ADJUSTABLE HEIM JOINT ENDS FOR MOUNTING. STEERING BOX DRILLED AND TAPPED FOR HYDRO ASSIST. This Kit would cost you $799 Shipped and we would tap your steering box as well!The 44 has all kinds of steering, about 8" of tie rod travel, and the West Texas Off Road Redneck Ram hydro assist 8" travel ram does too. The problem lies with the short space between the springs that the unit has to mount. When I fabbed it in there I was only able to get about 6-3/8 of total ram travel because of the length of the cylinder case.

I mounted the cylinder to the Duff track bar riser plate and it's too far back from the tie rod.
