Although it's been many yrs & rd bales made since I owned one, JD 430 rd balers are good balers except for the fact they came with single twine arm,no surface wrap capability or bale push bar. The 660 New Holland is a 5X6 baler, and auto wrap twine tie. I have a couple questions. Thoughts on the baler, good or bad, and can I just drag this baler home at 60 miles per hour or can i put it on a car trailer and haul it home. Also, there was a local 660 for sale but it had net wrap.

Oct 1, 2015 · Bale length by the book is 15 strokes per bale. Pushing at 11 strokes per bale, taking my time 19 strokes per bale. In practice I drop down a gear if it is 10 or 11 strokes, and gear up at 19 or 20 strokes per bale. Brome is a cool season invader here that produces a good first cutting but will not produce significantly in following cuttings. It will choke out alfalfa in 3-4 yrs. it produces much more seed talk than orchard grass. It will not yield as we'll or as good of quality as oc.On the 499 take top cap off at pivot. Drive a tire iron under tongue at pivot end so it will ride up over stops . You will need to load at a bank or dock. Hauled many 499 with hitch at 90 degree . Was still to wide for bridges etc . I think you will find that on 489/492, but it can be done .I run a 2008 Hesston 740 belt type baler, 4'w x 5' diameter bales. We have used it for four seaons now and no problems. It makes good tight bales as long as your windrow is uniform in width, preferably about 6' wide. The pickup wheels work really well, they pull in loose hay really well.
