Those ridges basically restrict air’s flow, killing noise at the source. In comparison, the Destination X/T is not missing with this features, but its softer compound also is more reflecting of the generated noise.

Being a tire engineer from my perspective the Firestone Destination AT2 is the least aggressive off all, so it makes sense why it brings top-notch on-road traction in comparison.
